"The absence of color surrounded me while walking the streets of Venice, umbrellas providing shelter for those scurrying to stay dry in a city that was showered in a steady rain. I decided to seek shelter myself in the Basilica on the Piazza San Marco. Inside I ascended to a balcony overlooking the square and as I looked down a splash of color caught my eye amidst the sea of gray; a lone, red umbrella made its way across the glassy gray square."
