The image, photographed from the base of the staircase looking upward, creates a mesmerizing spiral that feels both abstract and majestic. The intricate gold detailing against white marble evokes a sense of grandeur and timeless design.
This fine art photograph by John Scanlan brings drama and sophistication to any space, blending classical architecture with a modern, artistic eye. Limited edition prints are available on fine art photo paper, gallery wrapped canvas, or aluminum—ready to elevate your interior with striking architectural depth.
Behind the image: Melk, Austria. "You never really know what veiled places you’ll find when exploring the woods. What I don’t think people realize, is that there are just as many places indoors to discover as there are outdoors. With this staircase, I saw something spectacular; something worth documenting. Like the trees ascend to the heavens, this staircase does the same with a unique ability to take us with it; allowing us to participate in the wash, the artistry, the ascension."
