Behind the image: "I had seen this pier several years earlier but it was the wrong time of day to capture the image I had in mind. It's located on the West coast of Kaua'i and is the Waimea Pier. I wanted to showcase the pier's character, its signs of aging, its crisp and distinct lines, the mix of rusty metal roof, wood and stained concrete. This pier seems to have a lot of stories it could tell. The story I was going to tell with my image had to be all about the pier."
